(KRON) -- San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Mike Evans has been ruled out for this Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Evans did not practice this week after leaving Monday night's game with an Achilles injury.
Evans was able to start Monday night despite not practicing the week before with the same Achilles injury. Evans is also nursing a rib injury suffered during the Week 3 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.

Evans has been a top target of quarterback Brock Purdy this season. He leads the team with 420 receiving yards and is second on the team in touchdown receptions.
He led the Niners with 94 receiving yards in Monday's win over the Washington Commanders before exiting the game at the end of the first half.
With Evans on the field, San Francisco's offense put up 20 points. But, in the 2nd half the Niners managed just three points and three first downs, illustrating Evans' importance to the Niners offense.
The 49ers have been plagued with injuries at the wide receiver position all year. Ricky Pearsall is out for the season after suffering a knee injury prior to the season.
San Francisco will also be without wide receivers Deebo Samuel, who suffered a hamstring injury during the Week 5 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, and Demarcus Robinson, who injured his ankle in Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins.

There is some possible good news for the Niners on the injury front. Wide receiver Christian Kirk was a full participant at practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Kirk was placed on injured reserve with a calf injury before the season started.
Kirk was one of San Francisco's big offseason acquisitions and could be a big boost to a depleted wide receiver group.
Despite all of the injuries, the 49ers are 6-0 for just the fifth time in franchise history and the second time under current head coach Kyle Shanahan.
The Niners will be on a bye week after Sunday's game. The extra time off could allow several key pieces including Evans, Samuel and defensive end Nick Bosa to return in time for their Week 9 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kickoff for Sunday's game in Atlanta is set for 10:00 a.m.
